Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

It is a great honor for us to be guest editors for this Special Issue entitled: “Quantitative Biomedicine: from Bioinformatics to Systems Biomedicine and Beyond.” Our goal is to explore the role of computational and mathematical biology, as novel areas of biology, in enhancing biomedical sciences in the era of big data.

The third millennium started by the release of the Human Genome Project data. Since then, several other milestones have been achieved that have taken Biomedical Sciences to a totally new level. With the advent of high-throughput technologies, the rate of biomedical data accumulation is now exceeding the rate of translational biomedical informatics progress. Today, the strong desire for automatic intelligent tools that can convert biomedical data to applied knowledge is more obvious than ever.

In recognition of the significance of these advances, we invite contributions to this special issue. We welcome all manuscripts that show how mathematical and computational biology, bioinformatics and medical informatics, systems biology, and biostatistics can pave the way for the better understanding of disease mechanisms which may lead to more efficient diagnosis and treatment.
